I didn't mention this before, but the guts of this thing are really impressive. It has an AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 512 MB of video RAM. I can run Galaxies and Warcraft simultaneously, and simply Alt-Tab between Dantooine and the Alterac Mountains. Photoshop starts up within seconds. 3D Studio Max renders each frame at the speed of thought. I expect that this computer may achieve sentience within the next year, so you loyal readers out there may want to start digging the foundations of your bomb shelters now if you want any chance at surviving the coming Apocalypse long enough to get an autograph from a real live T-800.
It has only one drawback: every time it starts up, the case's built-in speakers play a short but loud sound clip of a revving engine. Dawn hates it, especially on the day that it locked up and played the Aphex Twin remix of the revving engine without ever stopping. Fortunately for me, with my fondness for obnoxiously loud toys, the novelty has not yet worn off.Labels: computers, nerditry, photoshop, star wars, superman, video games, warcraft
